OnePlus 15 and Pad 4 get stable ColorOS 17 ahead of schedule

OnePlus has begun rolling out the stable version of ColorOS 17, built on Android 17, to the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4. According to 9to5Google, the rollout started in India and arrived ahead of the October 29 date that OnePlus and Oppo had given for the first wave. Gizmochina also reports that users started receiving the update early.

The two devices are the only ones in this first wave. The update had been in beta for some time before the stable release. Per 9to5Google, the next wave is scheduled for October 30 and includes the OnePlus 13. Other confirmed devices include last-generation flagships and several Nord models.

OnePlus describes ColorOS 17 around the theme “Flow with AI, Flow Everywhere,” and says it aims to make interactions smoother and help users move between tasks and devices with less friction. Gizmochina says the upgrade brings a large number of new features, though its excerpt does not list them.

Why it matters

The release marks the end of OxygenOS on these devices. 9to5Google notes that OxygenOS began as a near-stock Android skin with added features and later became a globally tuned version of Oppo’s ColorOS. When OnePlus shut down most of its global operations, it was also announced that OxygenOS would be dropped and existing devices would move to ColorOS.

The OnePlus 15 and Pad 4 are therefore the first devices to make that switch in a stable release. 9to5Google presumes the update will reach other regions in the coming days, but that is not confirmed in the sources.

What we don’t know yet

The sources do not say when the stable update will reach regions beyond India, or whether the early start applies to other devices in the schedule beyond these two.
